The Bear’s Ramblings

Reducing our carbon footprint and stepping in the right direction… As well as sourcing our food from local suppliers and trying to keep our food miles as low as possible, all our packaging is eco-friendly too. We use fully compostable products, from our take-away cups and boxes to our napkins, all our packaging comes from Vegware who are an award winning company. They create products which are low-carbon, made from renewable or recycled materials, and all can be recycled along with food waste. If you want to find out more about Vegware then follow this link: Dirty Vegetables We’ve rambled about our local suppliers and keeping our food miles low, in addition to this we are also getting some of our vegetables and herbs this summer completely home-grown from an allotment! Free from any pesticides or chemicals this produce is grown by hand and looked after by Chris, as well as a bit of Scottish sunshine when it happens. Come by and try some of our horseradish coleslaw or rosemary and garlic focaccia to taste the great earthy flavours – it’s truly seasonal and therefore on our menu for a limited time, try it while you can! Knit ‘n Knead Are you still attempting to knit that scarf you started or are you a pro who can knit, crochet, and spin the yarn? Whatever your level, we have a monthly social get-together for knitters and yarn enthusiasts to have a natter over the needles with some home-kneaded scones, a cuppa tea or a glass of wine. In collaboration with Kathy’s Knits on Broughton Street you can come along and exchange knitting tips, share patterns and explore new ideas. Once every four weeks on a Wednesday evening from 6pm – contact us or Kathy’s Knits to find out when the next date is:

Introducing Steampunk Coffee . . . We've recently teamed up with local roasters Steampunk coffee who are passionate about their beans and VW vans. Based in North Berwick Steampunk really care about traceability, sustainability and the fewest possible links between them and the growers. They care about the finer points, the ingredients and the knowledge to create a masterpiece in the cup! We are huge fans of their coffee as well as Mavis - Steampunk's 1976 Westy which is fully equipped with a lever espresso machine. Seeing (and tasting) is believing so have a look at their own website (or come down to us and have an espresso or two).
